I must watch Bones, your the second person to mention that it has nerdy/geeky women characters on there.

I'd recommend watching Warehouse 13 as it has a great cast of female characters of which I only picked two. I think Once Upon a Time actually has some really good female characters too - I love Regina even though technically she is the bad guy for most of the seasons. I shall take a look at the books, but I'm guessing this isn't a bad adaption of them? From a newcomers point of view it seems to get its main story and message across.VintageRomanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00043770632418301757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3776219482207864885.post-31642021569895550582014-04-13T05:39:45.034-07:002014-04-13T05:39:45.034-07:00Please please please read the books. The former is one of my all time favourite pieces. The now iconic image of Elgar (actor portraying) going across our beloved Malverns on the back of a horse/ donkey. As well as pleasure ofcourse.

When you most thoughtfully yet spike-ly wrote- ‘ambiguity, ambiguity, ambiguity’, I could not help but think, huzzah- that is my favourite part of the world. Recently my father put on the film ‘Mulholland drive’ and what an ambiguous film that is. Yet at the end I was thinking about it, and three weeks later I still am. A worthy film indeed.

Then go on to my favourites- Powell and Pressburger, they make one think, and think, and think. Think about angle, about proportion, about love, death, heaven, hell, loyalty, betrayal and a myriad of subjects. As Scorsese has said,’ they were the masters’.

P.S. Those who practice it should consider it a craft.

Leonard Maltin skilfully précised films, whilst also reviewing those films in less than two hundred words. Yet the reviewer/ some of the reviewers for the Radio Times do not seem to have watched the film they are supposed to be reviewing, and if they did they most certainly missed the point of it.

Anyway, this ramble aside, I do read reviews but gradually learn which to bother with, and which to avoid.

P.S. It was very moving, and exposed very directly the prejudices which exist, particularly in certain areas of society.

Though I can not recommend the film ‘Myra Breckenridge’ (By Gore Vidal, who incidentally was in the documentary), I can recommend the book, a text which firmly makes one reconsider the role and situation of sex, gender, and how society sees and treats each of those.

When it comes to how sexuality has been portrayed I do find it fascinating that the film industry created ‘the sissie’, an imaginary figure who has dominated the public’s view of homosexuality, and continues so to do for well over half a century.NathanPBridlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15530768693798967926noreply@blogger.com
